Texas Plains Trail Region

Participant in the Texas Historical Commission's
Texas Heritage Trails Program

Books and Merchandise

The Texas Plains Trail Region helps tell the “real stories” of Texas for the benefit of travelers and followers of history, fulfilling our mission of preservation by publishing local and regional works overlooked by large publishers, republishing out-of-print works in enhanced formats, and helping citizen historians research and publish firsthand source material. In these ways, we serve writers, readers, and travelers alike.

Our first title is The Rim to Rim Road: Will Hamblen and the Crossing of Palo Duro Canyon (Sept. 2014). Download our mail order form here (pdf).

Want to learn while you play — and while you travel? Check out our Texas Fifty-Two-Step Tour Playing Card Deck. Download our mail order form here (pdf).

Each attractively designed card face features a single county, from Armstrong to Yoakum. We've worked closely with partners in every county to gather the most significant sites you can visit, from county courthouses and old jails to museums, landmarks, roadside icons, battlefields, scenic drives, and more. And they list each county's signature recurring events, from the Chicken Fried Steak Festival to Ranch Day, from races to reenactments to rodeos, car shows to cookoffs. $7.52 per deck, plus shipping and 8.25% for sales to Texas residents.
