Claude: Claude: Lubbock native Joe Gillis performs at the Gem Theatre
February 1 at 7:30pm to at 9:30pm
Historic Gem Theatre (1915), welcomes Joe Gillis.
Lubbock native Joe Gillis brings close to forty years of experience to Desert Pearl as a singer/songwriter. Gillis will perform at the historic Gem Theatre next to the Armstrong County Museum on Sat. Feb. 1, 2014, along with Juli Handley, Darryl Lemons and Patrick Herzog. Showtime begins at 7:30 p.m.
Gillis's CD's, "Moon Over the Palo Duro" and "Lost Angel Diner," have original songs that are included in Desert Pearl's repertoire. His songwriting paints pictures of his boyhood in England, the people he's met and the places he's been. Gillis spent several years as a solo artist performing his original compositions all over Texas and New Mexico and is also a former member of The Prairie Heirs of the Palo Duro, who toured Germany in 1998, and The String Technicians, performing everything from traditional cowboy to jazz. Gillis's talents include singing lead and back up vocals and playing six and twelve string guitar, along with the five string banjo.
