Claude: Claude: The Texas Gypsies

August 3, 2013 - 7:30pm to 10:00pm

Returning to our stage for a third performance, The Texas Gypsies are an award-winning band with a unique and eclectic style and sound all their own! Able to mix violin, horns, and guitars, the band can perform a variety of styles such as: classic big band music (Sinatra, Bennett), European Parisian swing(Django Reinhardt), New Orleans jazz, Texas swing (Bob Wills), or Texas blues, plus many original compositions and their own take on pop classics! They can perform from 4 to 8 members, dress in 30s-40s attire, and their show features both instrumental and vocal songs both artistic and also fun!! The Texas Gypsies are able to perform both a workshop and a concert. The workshop would involve students in a lecture-demonstration of the pre-war era of jazz/swing music popular in the US and show the influence it had on European music. Band members lecture and demonstrate the styles that spun off from this classic American jazz, like Texas swing and Gypsy jazz.
