Traveling the Texas Plains Trail. The 52 counties of the Texas Plains and Panhandle embody some of the most breathtaking scenery and fascinating history of the West. In the middle of winter, tour some of the Texas Plains Trail's most unusual settings, hear some of Texas's stranger-than-fiction stories, and learn about the half-century history of the Texas Travel Trails, a heritage tourism initiative like no other in the nation—all from the comfort of your own chair! Dr. Barbara Brannon will guide this vivid exploration in word, image, and music—and help you plan your own adventure within a few hours' distance of Lubbock.

Barbara Brannon, Ph.D., executive director of the Texas Plains Trail Region (www.TexasPlainsTrail.com), holds degrees in art and American literature. A writer, editor, photographer, and songwriter, she has spent thirty years in higher education, publishing, and marketing. She ahs contributed travel articles to numerous magazines and newspapers nationwide and is the author of The Ferries of North Carolina: Traveling the State's Nautical Highways.
