The first 5th Friday Arts on the Slaton Square Event for 2014 will be held on Fri. Jan. 31, 2014. The event is free to the public and will take place across various venues on the historic Slaton Town Square.
Slaton is a historic town, a short fifteen-minute drive southeast of Lubbock off of highway 84. The town is famous for The Harvey House of Slaton, The Mercy Retreat Center, and its vibrant art scene.
The Art Galleries on the Square will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. showcasing talented visual artists from Texas Tech University's graduate, undergraduate and alumni programs, as well as local and regional artists.
The Waters South Art Gallery, the Inbetween Art Gallery, V2 Art Gallery, and Jennifer Greer's Art Gallery will all feature artwork from Texas Tech University's students and alumni, and the Multiplicity Art Gallery will be hosting a Jewelry as Art Exhibit featuring the mixed media jewelry work of Barbra Beller.
Other artworks will be available for purchase from members of the Llano Estacado Clay Guild, amongst a number of local and regional artists including Roger Holmes, Judy Connell Robertson, Cecily Maples, Marsha Davis, Carol Koenig, Tom Hicks, Jerry Thompson, Willa Finley, Susan Sheets, and Barbra Beller.
Other locations on the square will be open that night for you to enjoy history, antiques, fabrics, art culture, and more. This is a great place to find something truly unique and special to remember your time in Slaton.
