Morton: Morton: 10th Annual TX' Last Frontier Heritage Celebration

10th Annual Texas' Last Frontier Heritage Celebration & Texas Buffalo Soldier Living History Encampment, Morton, Texas.  Step back into the early life and times on Texas' far western frontier!  Tour an authentic Texas Buffalo Soldier camp.  On Saturday join in the downtown parade in Morton and then come to the county park (1.2 miles east of TX Hwy. 214 on FM 1780) to enjoy a talent show featuring local musicians singing and playing favorite gospel, country and patriotic songs, a re-enactment of the 1877 Buffalo Soldier Expedition, a brisket cook-off judging & auction to benefit MYR KIDS young riders organization, young ladies' fiesta tea, bingo games, archery competition, arrowhead & tool making, cane pole fishing, and animal tracking, among other festivities.  And, Saturday night mosey on over to the Cochran County Rodeo Arena for an exciting MYR KIDS Play Day!  Location:  Cochran County Park.  Cost:  No overall admission fee.  $1.00 fee at gate for MYR KIDS Play Day.  Contacts:  Dorothy Barker,, 806-266-5484/806-891-5140; Sammie Simpson,, 806-927-5191/806-946-7178; Lu Ann Aday, Ph.D., Chair of Publicity, Cochran County Historical Commission,; (713) 664-7438
