This week marks the one year anniversary of the Plains Trail Caravan which commemorated the origional trip traveled in 1968. Use this information and our website to begin planning your own adventure across our 52 county region when you are ready to hit the open road again. *Due to COVID-19 some heritage travel sites and attractions are closed or have limited hours. Please contact them directly. 

 

Since 1968 our highway signs have pointed the way to Texas’s unique heritage, breathtaking scenery, and amazing events. Today the Texas Plains Trail  Region links travelers to 52 counties and 50,000 square miles of sites and stories a tank trip from Amarillo, Big Spring, or Lubbock.

Day 2,  Caprock Canyons • Hamblen Drive • Canyon • Amarillo • Palo Duro Canyon

Day 3,  Amarillo • Borger • Sanford • Dumas • Vega • Muleshoe • Morton • Levelland • return to Lubbock
