Just east of McLean lies Shamrock, home to one of the most impressive examples of Route 66 architecture in Texas. The Tower Station and Café is a one-of-a-kind 1936 Art Deco landmark that once housed the U-Drop Inn. Reaching high above the rooftop, the distinctive pedestals advertised food, gas and lodging — three essential items for Route 66 travelers. Recently refurbished to its original glory, the building is now open to the public as the Shamrock Chamber of Commerce.
